Since 1991, we have repaired over 120,000 cast iron cylinder heads using furnace welding
to repair cracked or damaged chambers.

Crack Repair Steps

  1. Identify cracks using magnetic particles
  2. Grind out cracks
  3. Preheat casting @1300 in gas fired furnace
  4. Cast weld
  5. Stress relieve
  6. Post heat and cool
  7. Counter bore for valve seats
  8. Test again using magnetic particles
  9. Pressure test
  10. Install valve seats
  11. Clean casting with steel shot
  12. Do cosmetic die-grinding
  13. Perform final test with magnetic particles
  14. Inspect and repair threaded holes
  15. If applicable, check diesel injector tubes
  16. If applicable, install tubes and pressure test
  17. Final inspect and ship
